Wellmann’s Takeover: Bartender Turned Businesswoman

MON, 01/04/2016 – LOCAL 12 WKRC

CINCINNATI (Sydney Benter) – From bartender to businesswoman; Molly Wellmann has started a small empire and it’s expanding.

Her company, Wellmann’s Brands, just bought Melt in Northside and its catering counterpart, Picnic and Pantry, in Over-The-Rhine. Wellmann’s company already owns several bars around the Tri-State such as Japp’s and Neon’s Unplugged. Now she has six establishments. Perhaps no one is more surprised by her success than she is.

“Never in a million years would I ever think that I would be here right now sitting in Melt and I’d own it! I’m very proud and I’m very honored and I’m very grateful and I do not take one bit of it for granted,” said Wellmann.

None of the bars in Wellmann’s Brands currently offer food, but Molly said that’ll change after the recent acquisitions. The former owner of Melt and Picnic and Pantry will now serve as the brand’s executive chef.
